Title: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Post-Independence Contribution
 1
The Contribution Made by Sardar Patel after
Independence
What is Sardar Patel Who doesnt know Sardar
Vallabhai Patel? He was the first deputy Prime
Minister of India from 1947 to 1950. Born on
October 31, 1875, he attended Nadiad High School
in London and the Middle Temple in London. His
career began as a barrister.
 2
His career as a government official began in 1917
when he was elected to Ahmedabad Municipal
Corporation's Sanitation Commission. He made the
city more accessible to electricity, drainage,
and sanitation. He also led major reforms in
education, including the fight for recognition
and payment of teachers. Contributions to Post
Independence India He was Deputy Prime Minister
when India gained Independence and was
responsible for the Home and States portfolios
and the Information and Broadcasting
portfolios. He was asked to solve the most
complex and difficult problem of the States'
integration in the Union of India. Here is where
his statesmanship, persuasion skills and tact
came to full use. He dealt with the issue as
only he could, reducing the number of Princely
States to just 26 administrative units in less
than a month and bringing democracy to almost 80
million Indians, which made up nearly 27 percent
of India's total population. Vallabhbhai's
crowning achievement could be called the
integration of the States. This may not have been
possible for him quickly and easily. He was the
Minister of Home Affairs and oversaw efforts to
restore order and peace in a country ravaged by
communal violence like none before. This was
accomplished with the brutal efficiency of a
great administrator.

Role after Partition He solved the problems of
the partition, restored law and order, and
managed the rehabilitation of thousands upon
thousands of refugees with great foresight and
courage. He organized our Services, which were
depleted by the British's departure, and created
an Indian Administrative Service to provide
stability for our new democracy. Contribution to
the Congress Party Although Gandhiji presented a
program for broad-based action to Congress,
Vallabhbhai built the Party machinery to
implement that program. He was the first to
realize the importance of an effective
organization. However, no one else had done so
before him. He held complete control over the
Party organization. Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the
key architects and guardians for India's freedom,
was undoubtedly a major contributor to
consolidating that freedom. On December 15,
1950, he died, leaving behind a daughter Maniben
Patel and a son, Dahyabhai Patel. What are SPNU
Awards? His contribution was crucial to shaping
the modern world we live in today. In honor of
Sardar Patel's contribution, the Indian
government has established the Sardar Patel
National Unity Award. This award is intended to
recognize citizens and organizations who work for
India's unity. The SPNU Awards also aim to
promote unity in India. The Sardar Patel
Nation pease unity award sppu award will be
India's largest in unity and integrity.
