- High school students may apply for AFROTC scholarships between the end of their junior year through the first half of their senior year. Learn how to apply for AFROTC HSSP scholarships here.
- HSSP scholarship lengths can vary between 3-5 years, and are applied towards university tuition, books, and fees.
- Competitive and eligible cadets enrolled in the General Military Course (GMC) may compete for scholarships during their second, third, and fourth semesters of the GMC course. To compete cadets must at a minimum:
- Be medically qualified to serve in the armed forces
- Have a passing fitness test score
- Meet minimum GPA requirements
- Be in good standing in the AFROTC program
- The CMLA is a 2-year scholarship available to all cadets who have successfully completed field training and entered the Professional Officer Course upon the start of their junior year of college.
- Eligible cadets are granted a two-year tuition award of $18,000 per year, or this can be converted to a housing benefit of up to $10,000 per year.
- Any contracted cadet will receive a monthly stipend allowance depending on their level in the AFROTC program.
- Professional Officer Course Cadets are contracted, and receive a stipend between $450-$500 per month.
- Contracted HSSP & ICSP recipients in the POC are contracted and also receive a stipend between $450-$500 per month in addition to their scholarship.
- Contracted HSSP & ICSP recipients in the GMC are contracted, and receive a stipend between $300-$350 per month in addition to their scholarship.
- Non-contracted GMC cadets do not receive stipend benefits.
- UI Cadets who have received an AFROTC scholarship will also receive a $5K/year room & board scholarship if living in the residence halls/dorms on campus. (Fraternity/sorority/off-campus living does not meet this criteria)
- Whitworth University: Students enrolled in the AFROTC program are eligible to receive a Military Service Scholarship of up to $1,500/year if their tuition isn’t fully covered by Air Force and Whitworth scholarships and grants. Students who earn a three- or four-year full tuition ROTC scholarship will receive a grant to cover room and board on campus, or a dollar amount to cover the costs of living off-campus not to exceed Whitworth’s standard room and board fee.
